Mathura Vision 2030: ₹30,783 Crore Master Plan Approved to Transform the Braj Region
Admin / November 24, 2025

In a momentous decision that will change the future of the Braj area, the Uttar Pradesh government has formally approved the ‘Braj Vikas Yojana 2041’, a master plan worth ₹30,783 Crore.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved the ambitious plan to change Mathura and Vrindavan into world-class spiritual and tourism destinations, following a similar approach that has successfully changed Ayodhya and Kashi (Varanasi). This plan begins a "Golden Era" for the area which will include huge infrastructure improvements, heritage preservation and modern conveniences.

Key Highlights of the Plan:

  • Overall Investment: An enormous amount of ₹30,783 Crore allocated for overall enhancement of the Mathura-Vrindavan area.

  • Vision 2030: A long-term framework that proposes responses to pilgrim and resident needs.

  • Development Areas: The plan highlights rejuvenation of the Yamuna riverfront; heritage conservation of historic sites; reducing congestion in temple areas; and world-class road infrastructure.

  • Area of Effect: The development will include the totality of the Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad area, including Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, Nandgaon, Barsana, Govardhan, and Mahavan.

Transforming Braj into a Global Destination

The master plan created by the School of Planning and Architecture (New Delhi) seeks to achieve a balance between modern service infrastructure and the region's spiritual sanctity. The goal of the plan is to service the overwhelming increase in tourist occupancy which has exceeded 8 crore annually, while also ensuring a high quality of life for residents.

Major Infrastructure Improvements:

The plan proposes the construction of heritage corridors to relieve the significant congestion at the famous Banke Bihari and Dwarkadhish temples. Significant funding will also be used for:

  • Yamuna Riverfront Development: Beautification of ghats and hygiene of the sacred river,

  • Transport & Connectivity: Construction of new by-pass routes; widening of the inner city roads of Parikrama Marg; and utilizing ropeways in Barsana and Govardhan,

  • Kund Restoration: Restoration of the ancient water bodies (Kunds) and forest that are epicenters of Krishna Legends.

What This Means for Real Estate Investors

This announcement is a clear indicator of growth for both investors and homebuyers. Infrastructure developments of this size will, without fail, cause property demand and prices to soar.

As the government intends to develop Mathura-Vrindavan to be a global tourism hotspot, demand for residential plots, hotels, and businesses will climb dramatically. Areas connected to the new corridors and Yamuna Expressway will likely see the most increase, so the best time to invest in the area is right now.

Conclusion

The ₹30,783 Crore plan is an actionable step forward, not just an intention. The government is moving rapidly with the work involved, and Vrindavan is about to become possibly the most desired spiritual and investment location in the country.
