Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in a major announcement during the presentation of the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2026-27, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled a ₹7,705 crore allocation focused on urban development, expansion, and infrastructure strengthening across the state. 


The fund forms part of a broader ₹9.12 lakh crore budget for the fiscal year, described by government officials as one of the state’s most ambitious development blueprints yet. 


Urban Expansion and New City Promotion


Of the total, approx ₹3,500 crore has been allocated for the Chief Minister Urban Expansion and New City Promotion Scheme. In addition to the core expansion plan, the government has significant funding for infrastructure development authorities in cities including Meerut, Mathura-Vrindavan, and Kanpur. A total of 750 crore has been set aside to strengthen urban services, improve connectivity and accelerate planned growth in these rapidly expanding urban centres.

Urban development comes as part of the complete budget that expands allocation for education, health, technology and economic sectors. The ₹9.12 lakh crore budget marks nearly a 13 % increase from the previous fiscal allocation.
