Garhmukteshwar's Brijghat, on the banks of the Ganga, has attracted significant investor attention for tourism projects. Dainik Bhaskar reported that the District Industries Centre, Hapur, had received investment proposals worth a total of ₹563 crore for the Garh Ganga–Brijghat area.
How the interest began
According to the report, tourism department experts held a meeting with entrepreneurs and investors at the Collectorate on 27 December. Investors were told that Garhmukteshwar is among the state government's priorities. Plans to develop the area as a tourist destination were shared, including:
- Wildlife and dolphin-watch centres
- Boating
- Spaces for religious events
- Ghats designed with modern facilities
- Guest houses and hotels
The district administration assured investors of full support.
Proposals received
Within three days of the meeting, the District Industries Centre had received proposals worth ₹563 crore. The report names the following:
The ₹132 crore proposal was the largest. It covers a resort, village tourism and an eco park on 700 bigha of the entrepreneurs' own land near Brijghat.
Official view
Shailendra Singh, Deputy Commissioner (Industries), said the proposers had inspected the 700 bigha site and that the land is well suited for tourism.
Why it matters
The report reflects a growing view of Garhmukteshwar as more than a pilgrimage town, with the potential to become a destination for village tourism, eco-tourism and riverside leisure.
